yay, yay yay.. I know its overdue.. I know. Life just got hectic and the moments when I found extra time.. the freakin' computer wouldn't work with me and upload photos. ugh. Here I sit... hoping that this time it does! Without further ado... Christmas 2011 at the Ranisate House.
At the beginning of the month the kids each started their own Lego Advent calendars..
Peter-Leo got Santa Yoda or Yoda Claus! |
Kody had a Lego City Advent Calendar and she got Santa too! |
On December 6th we celebrate St. Nicholas Day; which is a German holiday.. basically the kids "fill" their shoes with all the old (but still in good condition) toys and St. Nicholas (not Santa, Saint Nicholas) brings them their special Christmas gift in return for their generosity.
Each year Kody receives a Russian Nesting Doll.
She has grown to love them! |
Peter-Leo recieves a Nutcracker. |
Next, Peter-Leo's entire grade level was challenged to turn a shoe box into something fun for a "parade" at his school. It had to be able to move and be decorated. It really was a great way for them to understand sciencific concepts and have fun at the same time!
Peter-Leo and a classmate in the parade without the school. It was great! |
Back in the classroom;
his display (Merry Christmas on one side and a Christmas tree and present on the other side)
lit up with battery powered lights! |
On Christmas Eve we continued with tradition and the kids put out reindeer food; for the reindeer of course.. they have alot of weight to pull!!
This year we added dried apples. |
The outtake; they needed a break in between "nice" photos. Goofy kids! |
Peter-Leo puts out his "revised and updated Christmas present list." |
Kody looks at the pop up Nutcracker book. |
