finally completed that bench...

that my husband thought I would never do. Besides I don't know what he was complaining about I am the one who dragged it out of the woods! Yes, some big jerk dumped a bunch of furniture and bedding in on one of the walking trails I use. I still have to add some pillows or a basket or something to it, but it is done!! I love it anyone want to come and sit down with me??

candles and something for the cake stand..

First things first. I finally made something worth putting on the cake stand I made a couple weeks ago.
I made this most delicious cupcakes that I found over here at http://www.amandascookin.com/2011/01/orange-creamsicle-cupcakes.html , and honestly they were so good that my super talented mother-in-law asked for the recipe. Now, granted it isn't my recipe, but just her asking for it made my day!!

The second project was these epsom salt candle votives. Another great one from http://www.craftsbyamanda.com/2010/12/epsom-salt-luminaries-some-winter.html
Mine turned out ok, her's looked better maybe more modge pod next time. IDK. Here a photo anyways of mine anyways.

The pink ones are for the two ladies I visit teach from church. I am going to add a little candle and a quote from this month's Visiting Teaching message. blah blah blah!

tutus are too too much fun!

So I found a blog that had directions for a super simple no sew tutu  (see the creativity at http://www.feelslikehomeblog.com/2009/06/how-to-make-a-tutu-a-tutorial/ )
  and 25 minutes later! VOILA!

Off to make a headband of some sort with a few leftover strips of tuile and my hot glue gun.
muhahahahahahahahahahahahahahaha!!

the crafting continues...

Here are my last few items that I have made.
This is the play mat I made for Kody. She is having a hard time counting to 50 so I tweeked a maze from a coloring book for her.  It's a large paint drop cloth from Lowes. First I drew with a black fabric marker all the images, which did take a while.  And then painted in all the images.  I wish I could of gotten I better shot as the colors don't show as bright as they actually are. Oh well.

While it is hard to see with the black fabric-I found a great no sew t shirt refashion! Here is the link to the blog that I found the idea from!   http://polkadotsandpizza.blogspot.com/2010/12/no-sew-shirt-re-fashion.html
I just found a couple shirts on clearance at Old Navy that I am going to try again with a shirt that I like to wear as the one pictured above is cute, but the fabric is too heavy for me. Yeah! Another craft project!!

Otherwise I have been making headbands and tearing apart some of my daughters dresses and turning the bottom parts into skirts, which I don't have any photos of.

ruffle-rerrifc!!

Yes, that is right. I made myself a ruffle scarf.. it is a deep maroon color (go WSU Cougars!) but just like the one I made Erin P. and Kody previously.  It is super cute. No picture. Sorry.

Also, I tackled a ruffle shirt today that will go under some of the sweater and cardigans I wear.  It's was really fun to make and I DID IT!! WOOT!! WOOT!!
Here is the link to the blog page with the tute..
http://tearosehome.blogspot.com/2010/01/tutorialruffle-shirt.html

here is the completed shirt under one of my favorite sweaters, ignore the fatness of my stomach.

Next I tackled a couple of flat bead necklaces, the idea behind this is that I will be making them for the kids in Kody's preschool class for their Valentine's Day party bags.
Now.. what to do with this cute little glass bottles I got for $3... hmm.

starting the new year off.. right.. wrong.. lopsided. absolutely lopsided.

Yes, you read the headline correctly.  lopsided... from the latin meaning ".. any object or person that either sits on an unlevel base or has been purposely put askew by a greater ( or her lesser) power in order to be taught something or learn something she neither cares to or wants to learn in said manner."
So. Ummm. That is toldly not true. It is not latin.. just a dialect of gibberish I picked up.
In recent days I have been thinking.. about many things, both temporal and spiritual.  I haven't found any answers, honestly just more questions.  You know that old saying "up a creek without a paddle?" Well I feel as if I am not only missing my paddle, but river guide, lifevest, map, sunblock, food, oh and yay, the river is filled to the brim with Michelle-eating fish that haven't eaten in weeks. Not a good time.
With that image in mind, after explaining my situation, friends and family are telling me to swim (quickly) to the shore!??!
So. Okay. Honestly, they are right. I do need to get out of the boat and swim somewhere.. not sure which shore, or maybe a rock in the middle? This is part of my struggle.  What to do.. what to do??

On a lighter note... finished another project... made and canned orange marmalade and grapefruit marmalade. DELISH!!
Orange Marmlade is one of my favorite things.. Seville oranges are not in season for us right now.. but regular ol' oranges were. So giddy up!!
